It takes dedication, motivation and you have to be able to restrict yourself from certain things. This is all made easier when you can’t find said things in your pantry to lose weight.
What you keep in your cupboards can either be detrimental or instrumental to your weight loss goals.
By keeping unhealthy snacks like chips, cheese and chocolate on board or even spreads like Nutella, this is a sure fire way to jump off the diet train before the conductor yells, “lose weight”.
However, there are seven things you can keep in your cupboards to help curb those pesky hunger cravings.
Fruit helps you to lose weight
For when you are craving something sweet, fruit is your best bet. Not only will it contribute to your five plus fruit and vegetables a day, it will satisfy that sweet craving and keep you feeling fuller for longer than half a block of chocolate would.
Keep your fruit in a fruit bowl on your dining room table. This way they will always be in plain site, ready to pick up for a quick snack on the go.
Crackers high in fibre
High fibre crackers are often lower in calories than other kinds of crackers and they’re denser so it takes longer to eat them so they fill you up fast.
Eat them with some marmite or hummus for a quick snack.
Nuts helps you to lose weight
Nuts are ridiculously good for you. They contain protein, omega-3s, fibre, vitamin E and unsaturated fats which help lower cholesterol.
The fibre and protein from nuts help keep you full so a handful of mixed nuts make a perfect morning or afternoon snack.
Vinegar helps you to lose weight
A healthier alternative to salad dressing, vinegar even has less sugar and calories than balsamic salad cream and a milder flavour. Mix with a bit of olive oil and you have a delicious dressing.
Popcorn helps you to lose weight
For when you really want that tastes-bad-for-you-but-is-really-good-for-you snack, popcorn is your go-to.
Three and a half cups of natural microwaveable popcorn is just 130 calories, so you can chomp on as much as you like without any guilt.
Tuna helps you to lose weight
Tuna has a bit of a bad rap but it is one of the best things you can eat while trying to lose weight. A can of tuna (packed with water) and a salad is all you need for a tasty meal.
It’s packed with healthy omega-3 fatty acids, has 16 grams of protein per pack (the recommended daily protein intake for women is 46 grams and 56 grams for a man) and is low in calories. It also requires no prep so it couldn’t be easier.
Whole grains helps you to lose weight
Not all carbs are bad. They can actually help you lose weight. It’s always a good idea to keep whole grains in your cupboard so you can make a quick and easy meal.
Think brown rice and quinoa which are packed with protein and fibre. You can mix these with tuna, chicken or whatever else you have in your cupboard for a filling and delicious feast.
